| The Typhoon’s
airframe is largely constructed of carbon fibre composites and
light alloy materials in order to save weight and increase performance.
The aircraft is equipped with the advance ECR90 radar and an
advanced integrated defensive aids system for self defence.
The pilot can carry out many aircraft functions by voice activated
commands whilst simultaneously manoeuvring the aircraft. Weapon
and defensive aid inputs are made through the HOTAS system (Hands
On Throttle and Stick) which allows the pilot to utilise the
full potential of the aircraft without removing his/her hands
from the controls. All this functionality is combined within
an advanced cockpit design that is fully compatible with night-vision
goggles. With pilot and airframe working in harmony, all the
systems of the Typhoon come together to make it a high performance,
extremely agile aircraft that allows the RAF to deliver combat
air power wherever and whenever it is required. |
